Admissions Requirements

Minimum Standards for International Students
The following academic qualifications are required in order for a student to be considered for admission. Meeting or exceeding these minimum standards does not constitute assurance of admission.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely-related field
  • Class rank in the upper 25 percent
  • Minimum TOEFL total score of 550

Specific Requirements for Applicants from China, India, Taiwan, and Korea

  • China: Four-year bachelor's degree conferred after 1990 with cumulative grade point average of 80% or higher plus a completed Master's degree or anticipated completion prior to admission. Publications are highly desirable.
  • India: Bachelor's and master's degrees with a First Division degree classification
  • Taiwan: Four-year bachelor's degree with cumulative grade point average of 80% or higher
  • Korea: Four-year bachelor's degree with cumulative grade point average of at least 80% or 3.3 on 4.0 scale
