The Department of BBMB is a research and teaching organization with the overall goal of understanding the molecular mechanisms of living systems in terms of fundamental chemical and physical principles.

BBMB offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry or Biophysics, and also M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in several interdisciplinary graduate majors.

Basil Nikolau

Craig Professorship

Basil Nikolau, professor of biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology, has been awarded the Francis M. Craig Professorship by Iowa State University President Gregory Geoffroy. The presentation was made at a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ceremony Friday, Feb. 15.
