"Evolution of new functions for proteins"
1414 Molecular Biology Buidling
4:10 p.m.
Abstract:
In this talk, I will first use pancreatic ribonuclease as an example to show how functional changes occur after gene duplication and how evolution by gene duplication helps organisms adapt to new environments. I then use a genomic analysis of yeast protein-protein interaction data to show genome-wide patterns of functional changes in duplicate gene evolution.
