Title: Motions Matter: Dynamics of Protein Kinase Regulation and Drug Binding
Abstract: Protein kinases are important signaling enzymes and their dysregulation is the underlying cause of many diseases. Kinases are therefore attractive drug targets. As signaling switches, kinases interconvert from active into various inactive conformations. My group is interested in the structures, populations, timescales and pathways that facilitate kinase regulation. Since some kinase inhibitors only bind to specific kinase conformations we are also interested in the process of inhibitor binding to kinases.
