SUMMARY:BBMB Seminar - Ruth Welti\, Professor\, Kansas State University\; U
sing mass spectrometry-based lipidomics to gain insight into plant lipid m
 etabolism
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Lipidomics based on mass spectrometry is now commonly
used for lipid analysis. Large projects such as screens of mutant collect
ions for alterations in lipid composition and genome wide association stud
ies\, using lipid levels as phenotypes\, provide information about the rol
es of specific lipids and proteins involved in lipid regulation or metabol
ism.&nbsp\; On the other hand\, most lipidomic analyses are not fully quan
titative\, and there tends to be variation in quantification among laborat
ories. The Plant and Algal Interest Group of the International Lipidomics
Society is conducting a ring trial in which phospholipids and galactolipid
s are being quantified by about 13 laboratories. The group is investigatin
g how we can reduce inter-laboratory&nbsp\;Host: Gustavo MacIntosh\n\nMore
