Beitz Leads New CAST Publication on Omega-3 Fatty Acids

For the past 10 years, Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have received a great deal of research attention as a nutritional food supplement because of their many demonstrated and putative benefits for human health.

A task force has been created to understand how each member of metabolically related compounds of the omega-3 fatty acids relate to each other and the effect of each on human body.  The members of the task force are Chair, Donald C. Beitz, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Iowa State University; William J. Banz, Southern Illinois University; Tom Brenna, Cornell University and The University of Texas at Austin; and Philip C. Calder, University of Southampton, are the authors of this special publication that will be focused on the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, food sources, and dietary recommendations.
