Undergraduate Study
BIOCHEMISTS IN THE MAKING
Explore life at a different level
Biochemistry majors learn how to think and work at the atomic, molecular, and cellular levels. There are whole universes to explore when you zoom in to a different perspective. You can specialize your study with focus options in Research & Biotechnology, Pre-Medicine, or Biophysics. We'll show you the tools to do everything from decoding DNA to analyzing enzymes.
Your Launch into Undergraduate Research
In ISU Biochemistry, we encourage hands-on experiences like undergraduate research! Develop critical thinking skills, help expand the frontiers of human knowledge, and stand out as an applicant to jobs or post-graduate programs. We'll support you in presenting your work at local or national conferences.
From Stupka Undergraduate Research Symposium (the first undergraduate-run research symposium in the nation) to the BBMB Summer Undergraduate Research Program to scholarship support for undergraduate researchers, we're all about Science with Practice.
Connections
You’ll find support from your peers, faculty, and staff when you join a learning community. Learn about your path of study, on-campus resources and activities, and future careers. You’ll connect with faculty and students through activities both in and outside the classroom and collaborate with a peer mentor.
Connect with other students developing innovative and entrepreneurial skills in the Start Something CALS or Start Something LAS Academy. Or find other students with similar interests in any of Iowa State’s hundreds of student organizations.
